Why avoid dying?
Obviously everyone wants to stay alive. We are hardwired for it; the purpose of life is to survive and reproduce.
But some people possess a stronger will to survive, and are willing to challenge the social status quo. They see the ephemeral nature of our lives and dare to suggest mortality is merely a tradition. That it will inevitably be possible to overcome. That it should be overcome. That it must be overcome. Such thinkers include:
- Nick Bostrom
- Raiany Romanni
- Bryan Johnson
And if we believe this, and accept their conclusions as truth (which I contend is reasonable), the next question is:
Should we live forever?
Probably not. But we ought to have the right to decide.
